- 2024 MEN'S RETREAT RECAP -
Our 7th Annual Men's Retreat, which took place on October 19, 2024 at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center, was a thought-provoking opportunity for the men of our community to reflect on their faith. Keynote Speaker Father George Parsenios, New Testament Professor at Holy Cross Seminary in Boston, led sessions and discussions on the theme "Between Two Worlds: Living a Heavenly Life on Earth," examining themes from the Gospel of John about how to live our lives directed toward the truth of heaven and away from the confusion of this life. With over 20 attendees, the day offered Orthodox men a chance to retreat, reflect, discuss, and grow in their faith.
- 2023 MEN'S RETREAT RECAP -
The 6th annual Ascension Men's Retreat, sponsored by our Koinonia Men's Ministry, took place on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center in Kansasville, WI. We were blessed to have 44 men in attendance who all enjoyed a day of spiritual renewal and fellowship. Our esteemed speakers, Fr. Sotirios Malamis and Pastoral Assistant John Anton offered an enlightening presentation around this year's theme: "The Divine Liturgy: The Greatest Invitation." Fr. Sotiri and John discussed "the Liturgy Mindset" and shared their perspectives about how the Liturgy becomes the lens through which we see the world. To God be the Glory! We look forward to seeing everyone again at our 2024 Retreat next fall, and encourage you to spread the word so we can be inspired next year by an even larger gathering of faithful Orthodox men.
Hosted by Koinonia Men’s Ministry, this event is open to all men of Ascension. The theme of this year's retreat is: Divine Liturgy: The Greatest Invitation, and our session leaders will be Fr. Sotirios Malamis & John L. Anton, Pastoral Assistant. Please join us!

- 2022 MEN'S RETREAT RECAP -
Forty-four faithful participated in Ascension's 5th Annual Men's Retreat, which was held at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center in Kansasville, Wisconsin, on October 15 2022. We were honored to welcome this year's keynote speaker. Fr. Luke Veronis from SS Constantine & Helen in Webster, Massachusetts, who offered dynamic and thoughtful sessions around the theme: "From Mirrors to Windows ... We are blessed so that we can bless others". According to Retreat Coordinator and Master of Ceremonies, David Rutkowski, "To have 44 men come together for fellowship and to hear the word of God is a true blessing for us all. I would like to personally thank Fr. Luke and Fr. Sotirios for their spiritual guidance, and give my gratitude to the planning committee and facilitators for a job well done. God willing, I hope to see everyone back next year. In the meantime, keep God in the pilot seat.” Photos of the fortifying day, can be viewed HERE.

- 2021 MEN'S RETREAT RECAP-
THE 4th ANNUAL MEN’S RETREAT, held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, was a wonderful day of fellowship, meditation and spiritual renewal. We were blessed to have as our retreat leader Fr. Stavros Akrotirianakis, Parish Priest of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Tampa Bay, Florida, and writer of the daily Prayer Team. Fr. Stavros talked about Discipleship and balancing God, family and work, and reminded us that God is the Pilot of our lives, not the Co-Pilot. We look forward to offering the Men’s Retreat again next year and thank everyone on the planning team for bringing an enriching and rejuvenating program to this Parish!
